These are my favorite pieces to make. I love getting a picture of a pet, knowing that this being is so special to the person who ordered the piece. I blow up the photo and just look at it for a few days. This gives me time to feel the personality of the pet and try to capture their unique qualities.
Then I start to trace and sketch. Next, I pick the glass that has the colors, textures and patterns that best suggest the coat and shape of the subject. Only then do I proceed with the actual construction of the piece.
