Landscapes

I spend a part of each day at the Arnold Arboretum in Boston and I am always inspired by the beauty of nature. The Arboretum is a living and ever-changing museum, with trees and shrubs from all over the world. Everyday, I am sure to discover something new.

Natural light always changes - moment to moment, day to day, season to season. In the spring, the "greening up" and blossoming is spectacular and heart-warming. The summer landscape is lush, with more variations of green than you can imagine. And then, in the fall, the trees let go of their "color full" bounty. Winter is the silent season. The trees are still and strong. And snow, for a time, makes white the most powerful "non-color" color in nature. All of these natural compositions inspire my art. And through all the seasons, I feel the calm and strength of trees. I really do hug the special ones!
